So, since I've been slacking and haven't posted anything for February yet, today you get a link to a nifty little Flash application on DeviantArt. Now, you too can Create A Dragon! (If only we had a library-card-on-demand printer at work, we could have a "Create A Library Card" Flash application on our website that would let folks design their own custom cards. Wouldn't that be cool?)

Here's the cute little dragon I whipped up in a few minutes. Why not make one of your own and post it to your own Vox? (Or if you prefer canines, this artist has a Create A Wolf application too!)

Found a gem of a short story this morning while surfing the tubes. Ever wondered what it would have been like if your parents had relied on a d10 while raising you? That every good or bad deed you committed resulted in random punishments or rewards? Read on for a tale of child psychology gone wrong.

I still remember the night when The Wheel came home. It was a big, wooden thing, although looking back now at its charred remains, it seems much smaller, far too small to have the sort of impact that it did on our lives. The Wheel was similar to the wheel from Wheel of Fortune or that “pick a random beer” wheel you see in some bars with large selections. It had ten sections, six marked A, two B, one C, and one the dreaded D. Whenever my sister or I did anything that would warrant praise or punishment, my parents would Spin The Wheel then consult The Chart.

Sure, it's not a YouTube video or mp3 audio, but it's not a long read either and it's worth your time. And maybe, just maybe, there are circumstances out there in life for which dice (or wheels) should not be relied upon.

It's a lengthy, but excellent essay on why a universal four-hour workday would be better for us all. If you're frustrated by the rat-race and the general climate of overwork, you should definitely give it a read. Make that an idle and leisurely read, of course.
